The stink of cigarettes and Febreze

Against my better judgment, I recently allowed people to smoke in my apartment, since my good-hearted side gave in to the “it’s too cold to go outside and kill our lungs” argument. Initially, it wasn’t really an issue, since before the sub-zero temperatures came upon us it wasn’t a problem to crack a window for ventilation; now it’s too cold even to do that. I’ve managed to limit my visitors smoking to my room-mates room only, but without fresh air it just stays trapped in his room until the door opens, at which time the stench of nicotine death pours out into the rest of the apartment. My neighbors know I hate smoking (even though I have no choice but to put up with it), so they bought me a little air purifier to try and make things better. I’ve only had it a month and the filter is already a very dark grey color. Yuck. I can’t wait till the smokers go back outside. Note to self: completely prohibit smoking in my next apartment, and tough shit if you want to suck one down and the wind chill outside is 20 below.

On the subject of the ungodly cold, it was 3 degrees when I walked outside today. For anyone reading this that doesn’t know how cold that is: I had to crawl into my car through the trunk because that was the only lock that hadn’t frozen. Good times. I wish I had keyless entry.

If you’re bored tonight, Davey is playing at the Cactus Club tonight. Brave the frozen tundra and come to Bayview and show your support!

I guess if ya wanna smoke that’s your thing, I’m not going to say you can’t but I would expect people if they came over to respect my surroundings and living space too though.

Like I said, it wasn’t a big deal until the windows froze shut… anyways, I don’t really care anymore. The smokers know where the designated smoking area in the house is, and that’s a good enough compromise for the time being.

PS: “For the record, I did not inhale”
