Hell hath frozen over
Last Monday Apple announced they were making the switch to Intel-based processors in all their computers starting in 2006; the complete transition will be done by 2007. Now as someone who’s always in the market for new toys, I’ve secretly wanted a new computer for some time — I’ve even considered the jump back to a PC (blasphemy!) simply because they’re cheaper and upgradeable. I’m excited by the news, but I echo the concerns of others in saying that unless they offer some serious price cuts on current models, Apple is going to have a hard time selling computers for the next 18 months when people know their purchases will be obsolete in a year and a half.
