This Earth Day, I wish the bees would come back
It seems that honeybees are disappearing and no one knows why. I wouldn’t mind if those crazy Africanized bees disappeared from southern California though…
If you love avocados, don’t waste your time going to the Fallbrook Avocado Festival. The website promised that I would see a giant, inflatable avocado in all it’s green glory. Well after an almost hour drive and squeezing through an insane mass of people, I saw no giant, inflatable avocado. What a letdown! The festival may have had its roots in celebratory praise of the tasty fruit, but now seems mostly geared towards showcasing local businesses and high school sports teams. The guacamole was tasty, but not worth the hassle or the price.

Linda Moulten-Howe usually has some good discussion on radio about the bees. Her website is http://www.earthfiles.com/ …

MSNBC just posted a story about the bees too. I didn’t know what 100% of commercial almond crops are pollinated by bees!
