Training for a 5K run

About a month ago Sara and I made a pact to become running buddies. We both acknowledged that starting any sort of serious exercise regime is hard, especially after the initial weeks of training don’t yield the results one would hope. So for a little over a month now we’ve been running either solo or together every few days, trying to do so at least 3 times a week.

The weather’s been pretty crappy out lately but yesterday I achieved a personal goal: 5.7 kilometers in 40 minutes or so. Rather than trying to do it all in one shot, I’ve been working up towards longer periods of running followed by short periods of walking and it’s finally paying off. Specials thanks go to my ever-supportive girlfriend for remarking that my stomach feels more toned :)
