More shooting stars and a lunar eclipse!
The Perseids were a big disappointment here in San Diego thanks to the marine layer rolling in early and the sky remaining overcast the whole night. But I’m hoping this Friday will more than make up for it. The Earth is due to cross the path of comet Kiess, thus producing the Aurigids. I’m really excited this time around as some astronomers are predicting a meteor storm! I’ll definitely up at 4:30am if it means seeing a shooting star every 20 seconds. Even if you’re in a city where light pollution is a big problem, you should still be able to see a few — they’ll be that bright!
Also if you near the Pacific Ocean and feel like waking up early on Tuesday, look towards the southwest and you’ll be rewarded with a dark red moon.
